Khairatabad has a major road junction of five roads called the Khairatabad circle, among the busiest in Hyderabad city. The largest Lord Ganesh Idol in the world is installed at the Khairatabad State Library during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival and is immersed at Hussein Sagar lake.

The Ganesh Chaturthi is on Friday 25th August in 2017. Khairatabad Ganesh 2017 idol making is started on Friday evening 9th June 2017. Stick pooja has done by the vedic Pandits. The Khairatabad Ganesh idol completed 60 years by 2014. So, Khairatabad society wanted to decrease the height of Ganesh idol to one inch every year. Due to this reason they are placing 57 Feet Ganesh idol. The height of Khairatabad Ganesh is 57 feet height and 28 feet width. Khairatabad Ganesh in 2017 idol is "Sri Chandi Kumara Anatha Mahaganapathi".

About Khairatabad Ganesh :

The laddu is about 5500 kg and it is prepared in tapeswaram. Khairatabad society chairman Sudarshan and Ganesh idol is preparing by Rajendran. Khairatabad The middle idol is 57 feet height standing Ganesh with eight hands Right hand upper Dalu, chakram, middle blessings, down Knife. Left hand upper Dalu, Shankam, middle laddu, down gadha. Ganesh idol backside big Kalpavruksam above Merumountain and fourteen headed snake shadowed to Ganesh idol. besides of Ganesh idol right side Chandimata sat on lion throne, Left side Kumaraswamy sat on peacock throne. Right side of the idol Spiritual form of lingam and meditating mahakala Shiva idol left side goddess Durga as Mahishasura Mardini.

Secunderabad Bonalu is on 9th July in 2017. Bonalu is celebrated in the month of Ashada Masam (June or July). Bonalu celebrated on Sunday's. In 2017 Bonalu starts on 25th June and ends on 16th July. The dates of Bonalu is June 25, July 2, July 9 and July 16. Bonalu is celebrated on June 25th in Ujjaini Mahankali temple in Secunderabad. Bonalu is an annual festival of Telangana celebrated in Twin Cities Hyderabad, Secunderabad and other parts of Telangana, India. For village Goddess likes Bonam. Bonalu Jatara is a Month long Festival. Goddess Shakti is worshiped as Mahakali or Mahankali. Bonam means food, rice cooked in a new pot which offered to Mahankali is called Bonam. Bonalu is a Hindu festival of the Goddess, Mahankali, celebrated in Telangana, India.

Procedure of Bonalu :

On the auspicious festival day people wake up early and finish their regular activities. People will do head bath and wear new clothes especially ladies then they will buy new pot, in new pot they will cook pongal and rice in it, then they will decorate pot with kadi, pasupu (Turmeric) and kunkuma (Kumkum) then they will cover the pot with lid, after place some neem leaves and will make lid as a lamp. This is called as Bonam Jyothi. Some women dance with balancing pots, to the rhythmic beats of drums in honor of the local Goddess. In Olden Days people used to sacrifice a buffalo, Goat, Sheep in front of the temple. Goddess temples have names such as Mysamma, Pochamma, Yellamma, Pedamma, Dokkalamma, Ankalamma, Poleramma, Maremma, Pochamma, Maramma, Yellammma, Nookalamma etc.

Bonalu 2017

At the centuries-old Ujjaini Mahankali temple, women started filing in from 5 am itself with the 'bonam', (a pot carrying rice, jaggery, milk and curd and covered with neem leaves and a lamp placed on it) on their heads. Along with the drum sounds and dances ladies in groups with the neibhours, relatives and family members go to the goddess temple and offer bonam to the goddess.

Bonalu Significance :

The origin and significance of the Bonalu festival is traced to a major plague that killed thousands of people in 1869. At that Time People prayed for Goddess Ujjaini Mahankali in Maharastra as the people will saved from the disease will built the Mahankali temple. After the temple built people started offering Bonalu every year in Ashad Maas. The word Bonalu is derived from the Telugu word Bhojanalu means food offered. People belief is that offering the Bonalu will please the goddess.

Potharaju : 

Potharaju, the brother of Mother Goddess, is represented in the procession by a well-built, bare-bodied man, wearing a small tightly draped red dhoti and bells on his ankles, and anointed with turmeric on his body and vermilion on his forehead. He dances according to resounding drums.

The Bonalu celebrations begins first at the Sri Jagadamba temple in Golconda Fort. Then Second sunday in Ujjaini Mahankali temple in Secunderabad and Yellamma temple in Balkampet. Then the celebrations will move to the Lalbazar, Old City and other areas of the city.

Telangana state declared Bonalu as state festival on June 16th 2014.

Akshaya Tritiya falls on the third Tithi (lunar day) of Shukla Paksha of the Vaishakha Month. Akshaya Tritiya which is also known as Akha Teej. The meaning of the word Akshaya is infinite (never ending) and Tritiya means third. Akshaya Tritiya is celebrated on Friday April 28th in 2017. On this day Lord Ganesha started to write Mahabharata listing to Veda Vyas. Akshaya Tritiya is dedicated to the Lord Vishnu, Goddess Lakshmi and Kubera. Akshaya Tritiya falling on a Rohini Nakshatra day with Wednesday is considered very auspicious. It is an auspicious day and also this day beived as birthday of Lord Parasurama who is the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Akshaya Tritiya is celebrated by both Hindus and Jains.

According to Hindu mythology Treta Yuga began on Akshaya Tritiya day. Akshaya Tritiya is believed to bring good luck and success. Most people purchase Gold because this day brings prosperity and more wealth in coming future. If people can't buy gold they can buy silver if not rice and granules is also auspicious. The new ventures and stating a new business will be started this day will be auspicious. Worshiping Lakshmi Devi on this day brings infinite wealth and happiness. Chanting mantras and doing yaga will bring more success in life. According to the purana poor Kuchela friend of Sri Krishna gain wealth on this day. Lord Vishnu married Lakshmi devi on this Akshaya Tritiya day. Because of this reason rahu kalam will not be seen on this day.

Significance of Akshaya Tritiya:

The significance of Akshaya Tritiya is Parsurama born on this day, Annapurna Devi born on this day and Sacred Ganga came to earth on this day because of bageratha tapassu. Adi Shankara recited the Kanaka Dhara Stotr on this day for the sake of the poor couple when he went for bhiksha.

On this auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya doing annadanam and vastradanam will be good. As Akshaya Tritiya occurs on summer mostly in April or May giving water for need also good on this Akshaya Tritiya day. The preyar of prahlad brought Lord Narsimha Swamy came out of piller and killed hrinyakasyap is happend on this Akshaya Tritiya day. Lord Naramsimha Swami will be seen on his nijarupam (Face is like varaham means Pig, body is like Man and tail like Lion) on the Akshaya Tritiya day in Simhachalam temple. It will be open from the early morning to evening.

The Followers of the Jain religion consider Akshaya Tritiiya to be a holy and supremely auspicious day. They worship Lord Adinetha, also known as Rishabhadeva.

Ugadi or Yugadi 2017 is on Wednesday, 29th March, 2017. The name Ugadi resulting from “Yuga and Aadi” which indicates “Beginning of New age”. Ugadi – it is considered that Master Brahma (Creator of the world) began his perform of development on Chaitra Suddha Padyami. The name of this year Ugadi is "Hevalambi" nama samvatsaram. Ugadi usually in the Chaitra maas (March–April) and Ugadi marks the first day of the new year. According to Hindu Calendar Chaitra Maas is the first month in Panchanga. Ugadi occurs in Chaitra Suddha Padyami every year. Yugadi or Ugadi or "Samvatsradi" is the New Year's Day for the people of the Deccan region of India. It falls on the different day every year because the Hindu calendar is a lunisolar calendar.

Procedure on Ugadi:

On this joyful day individuals awaken in the Early morning and take sacred shower, praise the God, and take unique formula of Ugadi i.e, “Ugadi Pacchadi”. Importance of this Ugadi Pacchadi is, it is a Special mixture of ‘Shadruchulu’ (Six Tastes) i.e., Bitter, Sweet, Sour, Slat, Spice, and Tang. To Prepare Ugadi Pacchadi Tamarind, Neem Flowers, Mango Pieces, Jaggery, Salt and Jeera. It indicates that the lifestyle is a mixture of different tastes encounters which has to be approved similarly. On Ugadi individuals pay attention to listen Panchaga Sravanam, indicates an almanac (calendar) which has the astronomical/astrological everyday information mainly relevant to thidi, Day Nakshatra, Yoga exercises and Karana known as as Pancha-Anga (five elements) that allows the acknowledging various positive/negative minutes of electional zodiac. While the people of Telangana, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh use the term Yugadi/Ugadi for this festival, the people of Maharashtra term the same festival, observed on the same day, Gudi Padwa. Sindhis, people from Sindh, celebrate the same day as their New Year day Cheti Chand. Manipuris also celebrate their New Year (Sajibu Cheiraoba) on the same day. It is observed as Baisakhi in Punjab and Puthandu in Tamil Nadu. However, it is not celebrated on the same day as Yugadi in Tamil Nadu because the Tamils follow a solar calendar.
